The backstory
Magic Write is Canva's AI text generator, built to draft copy for designs, presentations and social posts right on the canvas. As a standalone writer it is weak next to free ChatGPT, which reasons better and writes longer. But it survives because it is bundled free inside a design suite that hundreds of millions of people already use. Nobody opens Canva to write; they open it to design, and having decent copy generation one click away is a convenience, not a product anyone has to choose.
