The backstory
Writer is an enterprise generative-AI writing platform: brand-voice enforcement, style guides, approved terminology and secure deployment for big companies. Claude with brand-voice prompting can produce similar text, but enterprises pay for the governance around it, controls, compliance, on-prem or private options and admin oversight, not just the generation. That's the moat. It survived because large organizations need managed, auditable, on-brand AI, and a raw chatbot doesn't provide the guardrails, security and administration they require.
