The backstory
HubSpot is a CRM plus marketing, sales and service tools where a company's customer data and automated workflows live. ChatGPT can reason over data you feed it, but HubSpot owns the source of truth: contacts, deals, email sequences, forms and reporting all wired together. Pulling that out to a chatbot would mean rebuilding the whole system. HubSpot survived because owning the data and the workflows around it is the moat, and it ships its own AI (Breeze) on top.
