why this verdict
Keep it — OpenAI has not replaced it
OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the e-commerce job, so this one is still worth keeping open.

The backstory
Gelato's distinguishing bet is geography: production in dozens of countries so an order prints near the buyer, which cuts shipping time and carbon rather than competing purely on unit cost. That matters more as marketplaces get saturated with AI-generated designs and delivery speed becomes one of the few differentiators a seller still controls. It also serves larger brands rather than only hobbyist sellers, which insulates it from the worst of the margin collapse at the bottom.
