The backstory
Figma is where product teams design interfaces together in real time, with shared components, design systems and developer handoff. AI can generate a mockup image, but it can't hold the living design system, the comment threads and the collaboration that a whole team runs on. Figma leaned in with First Draft, generating starting layouts inside the tool. It survived because the multiplayer workspace and design-system data are the moat; the generated layout is just a first draft you refine in Figma.
