The backstory
Cal.com is open-source scheduling infrastructure: booking pages, availability logic, and an API teams can self-host and embed anywhere. Assistants that can book a meeting for you handle the last step, but not the routing rules, team round-robins, integrations, and data ownership that businesses need. Cal.com survived because being open, self-hostable, and extensible makes it a platform others build on, which a consumer booking feature can't replace.
