The backstory
Weblate is a libre localisation platform used by a large share of open-source projects, syncing translations directly with a git repository so the strings live alongside the code. AI translation is nearly free, which threatens the paid platforms far more than it threatens this one, since Weblate never charged for translation. Its value is the review workflow and the community of volunteer translators, both of which get more useful as machine output needs checking rather than writing.
