why this verdict
Keep paying — OpenAI has not replaced it
OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one still earns its $5/mo.

The backstory
Vultr sells straightforward compute in more cities than most rivals, which matters when latency or data residency dictates where a workload sits. The generic pressure on VPS providers is that agent-built apps deploy to platforms where no machine is ever named. Vultr's answer was to chase the AI buildout directly, renting GPU capacity to teams priced out of the hyperscalers, so the same wave that commoditises its low end is currently paying for its high end.
