U
Uneed
A daily product directory and launch platform for indie makers.
NOT REALLY
why this verdict
Keep it — OpenAI has not replaced it
OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the marketing job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- AI made launching products so cheap that directories are flooded. OpenAI, January 1, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 2 of 2 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Product Hunt and Peerlist.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Uneed grew as an alternative to Product Hunt for makers who felt outgunned by funded launches. The irony of the AI era is that its problem is abundance: when anyone can ship a product in a weekend, curation and moderation become the entire value of a directory.
