The backstory
Slack organizes work chat into channels, threads, and integrations, and Slack AI adds thread summaries and smarter search across history. Microsoft's Copilot inside Teams offers similar AI, so the summary features alone don't protect Slack. What Copilot cannot replicate is the network of people, apps, bots, and channels a company has already wired into Slack; that switching cost is the moat, not the search box, so Slack survived.
