why this verdict
Keep paying — OpenAI has not replaced it

The backstory
Rootly automates the tedious half of an outage, opening the channel, assigning roles, tracking the timeline and filing the retro, and leaned hard into AI on-call agents that correlate alerts before anyone reads them. A chat assistant can summarise an incident, but it cannot enforce the process, hold the compliance record, or page the right person. Rootly sells to teams for whom the audit trail is a regulatory artifact, and that requirement does not evaporate because a model can write prose.
