The backstory
Rev charged per minute for transcription, competing on accuracy with a mix of AI and human transcribers. OpenAI's Whisper made accurate machine transcription essentially free, which forced Rev's prices down and gutted the volume business. It's wounded because the automated tier now competes with a free model, though the defensible part remains: human-verified, certified and legal transcription where a courtroom or regulator needs a person to stand behind every word. That's what AI can't sign off on.
