Reducto
Document parsing API that converts complex PDFs into structured data for AI pipelines.
why this verdict
Keep it — OpenAI has not replaced it
OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Frontier vision models reading PDFs directly, removing the need for a parsing service. OpenAI, October 14, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 2 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: LlamaParse and Unstructured.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Reducto handles documents that defeat naive extraction: multi-column layouts, nested tables, financial statements, scanned forms where a misread digit changes a number by an order of magnitude. Frontier models read PDFs increasingly well, which is the obvious threat, and they still hallucinate table cells in ways that are catastrophic in finance and healthcare. Reducto sells accuracy with citations back to the page, and verifiability is what distinguishes a pipeline from a demo.
