The backstory
Redash lets teams write SQL queries, visualise them and share dashboards, with an open-source core. Development slowed after acquisition, and Metabase pulled ahead with a friendlier interface and its own AI features. Models writing SQL removed the last reason a non-analyst needed a query tool at all.
