The backstory
Opus Clip takes a long video and automatically finds the best moments, cutting them into captioned vertical short clips ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. That clipping automation is genuinely useful, but it is increasingly built into other editors and creator platforms, and general AI tools can identify highlights too. Opus Clip is wounded because its core trick is becoming a standard feature rather than a reason to pay for a dedicated app. Its virality scoring and polish still help, but the moat is thinning as clipping goes native everywhere.
