Onlook
Open-source visual editor that edits React code directly, like Figma for a live codebase.
why this verdict
Keep paying — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the design job, so this one still earns its $20/mo.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Figma Make, Lovable and v0 covering prompt-to-interface with far more distribution. Anthropic, December 9, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 1 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: v0.
- What the call is worth $240/yr
- $20/mo at the entry paid tier — $240 a year per seat.

The backstory
Onlook closes the designer-developer gap from the code side: drag an element in a browser preview and it writes the change into the actual React and Tailwind source, no export step and no drift. That is a meaningfully different proposition from tools that generate a project and then leave you in a chat window. It is open source and small against very well-funded competitors, and the specific thing it does, direct manipulation of real code, is the one thing prompt-only tools handle worst.
