why this verdict

Keep it — OpenAI has not replaced it

OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the HR & recruiting job, so this one is still worth keeping open.

The backstory

Micro1 built an AI interviewer that conducts technical screens at a scale no human team could match, then pivoted much of that capability toward supplying vetted experts to AI labs for training data, which is where the money moved. Both halves depend on the same asset: a large pool of assessed talent with reliable skill signals. It competes directly with Mercor for that supply, and the labs' appetite for expert data has kept growing.
