The backstory
Hex is a collaborative data notebook where analysts write SQL and Python, build interactive apps and share results across a team, now with AI assistance. Claude can analyze data in a chat, but that's a solo, throwaway exercise. Hex survived because it connects directly to the data warehouse, enforces governance, and produces reproducible, shareable analyses teams rely on. The AI writes queries faster inside Hex; it doesn't replace the notebook, the warehouse connection or the collaboration layer that make the work trustworthy.
