Evidence
Business intelligence as code, building data products from SQL and markdown.
why this verdict
Keep it — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the data & BI job, so this one is still worth keeping open.

- AI generating dashboards on demand, removing the need for version-controlled reports. Anthropic, July 8, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Streamlit, Metabase and Observable.

The backstory
Evidence treats reporting the way engineers treat software: reports are markdown and SQL files in a git repository, reviewed in pull requests and deployed as a static site. That eliminates the dashboard graveyard problem where nobody knows which of forty charts is correct. AI can generate a chart instantly, which is a different thing from maintaining a trustworthy report over years, and the code-based approach is precisely what makes agent-authored analytics reviewable rather than mysterious.
