Vue
Progressive JavaScript framework with single-file components and a gentle learning curve.
why this verdict
Keep it — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Agent-generated scaffolding defaulting to React for almost every new project. Anthropic, May 22, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Svelte, React and Alpine.js.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Vue occupies a genuine middle ground: more structure than vanilla JS, less ceremony than React, and a single-file component format that keeps template, logic and style together. Its exposure to AI pressure is mindshare rather than capability, since agents default to React unless instructed. It survives on an enormous installed base, particularly outside the US, plus first-class tooling in Vite and Nuxt that keeps existing teams productive rather than tempting them to rewrite.
