The backstory
Tailscale builds a private mesh network across laptops, servers and containers with identity-based access instead of firewall rules. Cloud agent sandboxes and hosted dev environments shift some work off personal machines, which trims one use case. It also creates new ones, because those sandboxes and agents need scoped, audited access to private services. Network identity is infrastructure with switching costs, and no model output replaces a working tunnel.
