The backstory
SST lets a team keep the developer experience of Vercel while the workload runs in their own AWS account, with live Lambda development that made serverless debugging tolerable. Zero-config platforms take the projects that never needed AWS, and agents write CloudFormation on request. SST holds the middle: teams who have outgrown a hosting platform on cost or compliance but do not want to hand-assemble a deployment pipeline, which is a well-populated and growing group.
