The backstory
Selenium made browser testing possible and gave the world WebDriver, but its programming model is a museum of flaky waits and brittle CSS selectors that break whenever a designer renames a class. Playwright already took the modern engineering teams. Computer-use models finish the job by driving a browser from an instruction like check that checkout works, with nothing to maintain when the DOM shifts. Selenium survives as a standard and inside legacy enterprise suites, which is a very different thing from being chosen.
