The backstory
Pulumi lets teams define cloud infrastructure in languages they already know instead of a bespoke config syntax. Its central argument was that HCL is awkward to learn and reason about. Claude now writes HCL as readily as TypeScript, so avoiding a config language is a much weaker reason to switch stacks. Pulumi still has strong state handling, policy as code and secrets management, but its headline differentiator is no longer scarce.
