Kubernetes
Open-source orchestrator that schedules, scales and heals containerised workloads across clusters.
why this verdict
Keep it — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Agentic SRE workflows that generate and apply manifests with no human YAML. Anthropic, May 22, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 1 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Nomad.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Kubernetes schedules containers across machines and keeps declared state matching reality. Its reputation for painful YAML was a genuine adoption tax, and agents now write and reconcile manifests well enough that the tax has dropped sharply. That removes a reason to avoid Kubernetes rather than a reason to use it. The control plane, the operator ecosystem and near-universal cloud support are infrastructure no model replaces.
