Honeycomb
Observability platform for high-cardinality event data and fast exploratory trace queries.
why this verdict
Downgrade — pay for the workflow, not the AI
Grafana Cloud and Axiom cover the headline feature free, so the $130/mo is now paying for the workflow around it.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked

The backstory
Honeycomb pioneered observability built on wide events with high-cardinality fields, and its query experience was the reason engineers loved it. With the Model Context Protocol, agents can now pull traces and logs from any backend and reason over them directly, which shifts value from the query UI to the data store. Honeycomb ships its own MCP server, which helps but also concedes the point. The ingest pipeline and pricing model remain genuinely good, so it is bruised rather than gone.
