The backstory
GitKraken sells comprehension: a picture of the branch graph and a readable conflict editor for developers who would rather not memorise git's command surface. Coding agents undercut that squarely, since they run git themselves and explain what happened in prose, which is a better interface than a graph for most questions. GitKraken responded by moving toward team workflow and Jira integration, but the core buyer, someone paying to avoid the CLI, now has a free alternative that also writes the commit message.
