Agno
High-performance Python framework for multi-agent systems with memory and knowledge.
why this verdict
Keep it — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- First-party agent SDKs from model vendors shipping the same primitives for free. Anthropic, November 25, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: CrewAI, Pydantic AI and LangGraph.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Agno, formerly Phidata, is a Python agent framework that competes on instantiation speed and memory footprint, which sounds like a trivial benchmark until you run thousands of agents concurrently and it becomes the whole cost structure. It bundles memory, knowledge and tools without the abstraction sprawl that made earlier frameworks unpopular. Its risk is the same one every framework faces, that the model vendors ship enough natively, and its answer is staying deliberately unopinionated about which vendor you use.
